About San Juan County, WA - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
Located in the upper northwestern corner of Washington State, San Juan County is comprised of more than 743 islands and island communities, 60 of which are inhabited and include the four major islands of San Juan Island, Lopez Island, Shaw Island, and Orcas Island, lovely waterfront community of Olga. Established in 1873, the county is presently home to a cumulative population of approximately 15,000 residents, the majority of which live on one of the four major islands serviced by the Washington State Ferries island transportation system.
The county’s delightful moderate climate is perfectly suited to the numerous opportunities for outdoor sports and recreation available throughout the county. Popular local pursuits include whale watching, sea kayaking, hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding, as well as the less strenuous activities of shopping and dining the many shops, boutiques, restaurants, and cafes situated throughout the county.
San Juan County is home to seventeen county parks, three overnight camping parks, and a host of festivals, parades, and special events that include the San Juan County Fair, Tour de Lopez, Orcas Island Shakespeare Festival, Summer Solstice Parade and Celebration, and Friday Harbor Film Festival, just to name a few!
Overlooking Buck Bay on the southern shores of Orcas Island is the charming waterfront community of Olga, famous for its extraordinary collection of fine arts and crafts created exclusively by local artists and crafts people and featured at the local galleries of Orcas Island Artworks and Olga Pottery. Due south of Olga is Blakely Island, sixth largest among the San Juan Islands and featuring more than 3,000 acres of exceptional forestland, two 70-acre freshwater fishing lakes, a private airport, and marina. Approximately one quarter of Blakely Island is owned by Seattle Pacific University and used exclusively for biological and environmental education and research.
Conveniently accessible via ferry, private boat, or floatplane, San Juan County is the perfect place to live or visit in the great Pacific Northwest!
